Auto Transport To & From Virginia (VA)

Virginia is a fascinating state, filled with a rich history and wonderful sights and sounds and everything else. If you're looking for auto transport to Virginia, here are some cool things that you may want to know:

The state itself is named after Queen Elizabeth I of England, who was known as the "Virgin Queen" (hence the name Virginia). It was one of the thirteen original colonies that revolted against the British Empire and was also the first state to be continually inhabited by the British since its foundig. It originated with Jamestown, which was then a small outpost dedicated to tobacco, at one time the state's leading export. From there it grew to cotton (with tobacco still a huge seller) until the end of the Civil War, where it turned more towards manufacturing due to the many estuaries and streams that feed into Chesapeake Bay. All the more reason to decide on auto transport.

It's known as the "Mother of Presidents," because almost 20% of all U.S. presidents were born there (eight in total: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson), and is also known as the "Mother of States," because it has laid claim to numerous states at one point or another. It's bordered by West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. to the north, with the Atlantic on its east, North Carolina and Tennessee to the south, and Kentucky and West Virginia to the west. What's odd is that the border between Maryland and Virginia is the Potomac River and that Maryland posesses the entire river, rather than it being split between them (as is the case with most other states). Which is why you should choose auto transport to Virginia, as opposed to those other states.

It's climate is relatively mild, with nice warm summers (albeit humid) and cold winters. What's odd is that variations can occur because of the state's significant changes in elevation as you move around. For example, summers are much colder as you progress over the Appalachian mountains, while Chesapeake Bay is known for hurricanes. Severe weather is occasionally a concern in Virginia, with hurricanes being prevalent during the summer; however, it's rare for a major hurricane to actually threaten the coast due to the inland nature. Nature can be your friend in Virgina, should you decide on auto transport. Think about it.

Virginia secededed from the United States on April 17, 1861, and this was mainly in response to Lincoln's call for volunteers to attack the Confederacy after the attack on Fort Sumter. It handed over its military on June 8th and signed the Confederate Constitution eleven days later. When Virginia joined the Confederacy, the capital was immediately moved to Richmond from Montgomery, Alabama; this was ultimately a mistake, because the Union was just a stones-throw away. Lincoln once commented about how he looks out the White House window and can see what Jefferson Davis is eating for breakfast. Most of the battles of the Civil War were fought in Virginia, leaving a permanent scar on the landscape. Many influential battles (which highlight the stupidity of early Union commanders) include the Battle of Fredricksburg, Fist and Second Manassas, and the Battle of Chancellorsville, as well as the unsuccessful invasion from the Chesapeake culminating in the Seven Days Battles. All this history is only one of the many reasons you should choose auto transport to get your car to Virginia.

Virginia is the most populous state in the Union to not have a professional sports league (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL). However, many Virginians are fans of the local D.C. teams and usually root for the Redskins or the Wizards or the Nationals. Virginia almost acquired the Houston Astros in 1996, but the MLB stepped in and decided to halt the transaction so Houston could pass a new stadium deal. Norfolk has been in the minds of several MLB leaders, but the state's reluctance in financing the trade and subsequent move has led them to pursue other options.

There are many things to do and see in Virginia, and it would be criminal to tell you before you had a chance to see for yourself.
