AmericanAutoShipping.comAuto Transport To & From Michigan (MI)Some shippers may offer a discount if you mention you saw them on American Auto Shipping.com Michigan is a really interesting state, filled with so much stuff to do and see it'll make your head spin. We'll leave the exploring up to you, but if you're looking for auto transport to Michigan, here are some basic stuff you might want to know:Michigan has a whole lot of different borders. On the south is Ohio and Indiana, with Lake Michigan on the west, then Wisconsin on the east, with Lake Superior on the north. Oddly enough, Windsor, Ontario, Canada is actually south of Detroit, right across the river. It's actually the only place where Canada is south of the United States, and if you're Canadian, you'd have to go north from Windsor to get into Detroit. There are a whole lot of bodies of water that converge in and around Michigan, making auto transport there quite simple actually. Michigan has 38,575 square miles of Great Lakes waters and another 1,305 square miles of rivers and lakes in the state itself (if you like the water). The Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which is heavily forested, is actually pretty mountainous in the west. The Porcupine Mountains, the oldest in North America, rise to almost 2,000 feet and create the watershed for the streams flowing into both Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. This area is quite beautiful, should you be looking for auto transport to the Upper Peninsula, and the actual peninsula itself is as large as Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts and Rhode Island combined, but (ironically) only about 30,000 people actually live there. The Lower Peninsula, on the other hand, is 277 miles from north to south and almost 200 from east to west. Despite this, it's nearly two-thirds of the state itself. This part of the state is pretty flat, broken somewhat by some hills no more than a few hundred feet high. It's divided by a low water divide that runs north and south, and slopes slightly toward Lake Michigan. The way that the peninsulas are designed makes for a really long drive, should you be going from one end to the other. 630 highway miles separates Ironwood (the northernmost city in Michigan) from Toledo, Ohio in the peninsula's southeastern corner. What's interesting is that the Upper Peninsula, because it's so cut off from the rest of the state, actually has a much more diverse culture than the rest of Michigan, and has occasionially called for secession from Michigan, due to the fact that the rest of the state seems not to care about them. This, however, is not the case. But, if you're looking for auto transport to the Upper Peninsula, be prepared for a big surprise when you arrive. Despite the fact that there is so much water in Michigan, the rivers that flow through the state are shallow, short and barely navigale. The state has a total of 11,000+ lakes and no point in the entire state is more than six miles from a lake or 85 miles from one of the Great Lakes. Another cool thing is that you have to travel south from Detroit to get to Windsor, Canada, and this metropolitan area is the largest international metropolitan area in the entire world. Michigan has a humid continental climate throughout the entire state, even though there are two separate and distinct regions. They all have hot summers and cold winters, characterized by 80+ heat in the summer and a lot of snow in the winter. Make sure you're ready for that should you be looking for auto transport to the state. Michigan is a really nifty state to live in. From the lakes and rivers to the beautiful trees to the snow lying pristine on the ground, you'll never regret your auto transport decision.
