Yuba City is a city in and is currently the county seat of Sutter County, California. According to official U.S. Census Bureau data, as of 2010 the city’s population was just over 64,900. It is the principal city of the Yuba City Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Sutter and Yuba counties, and has a total population of over 164,000.

The land where the city now sits was originally owned by John Sutter, of Sutter’s Mill fame, who acquired it from the Mexican government prior to the giving of California to the United States in 1848. He sold his land piecemeal to local entrepreneurs to help build a small city in the region, and in 1856 the upstart city was named the county seat of Sutter County. Agriculture in Yuba City was fairly important, as many cities in the area were reliant on agriculture, and over time that has not changed, though more and more economic development have led to diversification and growth in more recent years.

During the summer months, average highs in Yuba City tend to reach into the low-to-mid 90’s during the day, with overnight lows usually dropping into the low-to-mid 60’s, making for relatively pleasant nights during the summer. During the winter, temperatures drop a bit, with average daily highs only reaching into the mid-to-upper 50’s during the day and overnight lows routinely dropping down into the low-to-mid 40’s.
