Muncie is a city in Center Township, Delaware County, Indiana, and is best known as the home of Ball State University as well as the birthplace of the Ball Corporation, which is well-known for creating glass canning jars, avionics, space systems, and more (diverse portfolio, to be sure). Ball State University is named after the founders of Ball Corporation, the Ball Brothers, who both donated money to the school when it was first built. The city has a population just over 118,000, and is part of the greater Muncie, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area.

It was first settled by displaced Native Americans forced to move west in the 1770’s, and started as Muncietown, a small town not far from present-day Muncie. However, in the early 1800’s, the Native Americans were forced to move further west, and in the 1820’s the area was opened to white settlers. It was incorporated in 1865, and has seen little disturbances since, with no major catastrophes or anything of the like in its 130 year history.
