Marion is a city in and the county seat of Marion County, Ohio aE" the city is actually named after the county. According to the 2000 US Census the cityaE™s population was just over 35,000 and the city is a principal city of the Columbus-Marion-Chillicothe Combined Statistical Area, which has a total population of over 1.9 million.

The city was founded just after the end of the War of 1812 and is the hometown of President Warren G. Harding as well as his wife, First Lady Florence Harding. Marion grew slowly, thanks mainly to its much larger neighbor Columbus, and for years was known simply as a suburb of the major city as opposed to its own independent town. However, with urban flight taking hold in Columbus in the 1960aE™s and 70aE™s, Marion grew rapidly in size, though the population boom leveled off around 1975.

During the summer months the cityaE™s temperatures hit around 84 degrees during the day with lows often dropping to around 67 degrees overnight. During the winter months, however, temperatures drop severely, with highs topping off around 50 degrees and lows often dropping to around 27 or so.
