Auto Transport to and from Lake Charles

Some shippers may offer a discount if you mention you saw them on American Auto Shipping.com

Sporting a population of just over 71,000, Lake Charles is a cultural and educational center of the entire southwestern region of the state of Louisiana, is the parish seat of Calcasieu Parish, is the principal city of the Lake Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is one of the primary manufacturing and petrochemical processors in the country.

The city was first founded in 1781 by two French explorers, with slow but steady growth up until the outbreak of the Civil War. Just before the war, there was a brief economic boom, caused mainly by new manufacturing techniques being introduced in the city, and was one of the only cities in the South that had fewer slaves than non-slaves in its population. After the war manufacturing became the leading source of income to the city, and to this day it is still one of the top manufacturing cities in the nation.

The climate is humid subtropical, which means that summers are typically hot and humid, and unlike most Midwest cities, summers are mild with the occasional cold snap during late December or early January. Average highs during summer hover around the upper 90’s, while the lows drop around 65. During the winter, temperatures get up to about 65, while lows drop in the low 50’s to high 40’s.

Lake Charles is a wonderful place to live, and if you’re looking for auto transport to the city, look no further than American Auto Shipping.
