Kissimmee is a city in and the county seat of Osceola County, Florida, and according to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the population of the city was over 60,000. It is a principal city of the Orlando-Kissimmee, Florida, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of over 2,000,000 people in 2007.

Kissimmee was originally founded in the mid 19th as Allendale, though when it was incorporated as a city in 1883 the town was renamed. The growth of the city can mainly be attributed to a man named Hamilton Disston, who opened a drainage operation in the area, and when the railroad came to town Kissimmee began to grow even more.
