Greensboro is a city in Gilford County, North Carolina, and it is the largest in the county and the third largest in the state of North Carolina. It is a part of what is called the Triad, which is a thriving metropolitan area that includes Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

It was founded soon after the end of the American Revolution and was named after Nathaniel Greene, an American general who played a major role in the events surrounding the British surrender in 1781. Afterwards it grew rapidly, and in 1865 the Confederate government, on run from Richmond, temporarily setup camp in Greensboro, effectively making it the capital of the Confederacy.
