Fairhope is a city in Baldwin County, Alabama, and according to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the city’s population was over 12,000. It is a principal city of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Baldwin County.

Fairhope was founded in 1894 by members of the Fairhope Industrial Association. It was designed to be an exercise in utopian politics by being the first single tax colony, with the aim of eliminating disincentives for productive use of land – this could help maintain high land values for the community. Though the city still exists the utopian ideals it was founded on have been largely abandoned.

During the summer temperatures in the city hit around 90 degrees during the day, with overnight lows often dropping down to around 70 degrees. During the winter, however, temperatures typically hit around 60 degrees during the day, with lows often dropping to around 42 degrees overnight.
