East Liverpool is a city in Columbiana County, Ohio, and according to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the population of the city was over 13,000. The city is located on the banks of the Ohio River and it actually borders both the state of Pennsylvania and the state of West Virginia. It is a principal city of the East Liverpool-Salem Micropolitan Statistical Area which includes all of Columbiana County.

It was named after the famous British city and was incorporated as East Liverpool in 1834 when another Liverpool in Ohio protested its name. The city has been known for some time as the pottery capital of the world. During the early 20th century the city experienced a sharp decline in residents after the Great Depression hit and stayed that way until the 1990’s when the city began an extensive beautification project.
