Bradenton is a city in Manatee County, Florida, and according to an unofficial estimate conducted by the US Census Bureau in 2006 the city’s population was over 53,000. It is the largest city in and a principal city of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of over 682,000 residents.

Bradenton is named for Dr. Joseph Braden who lived and worked in the area in the middle of the 1700′s, and he would often lend his home to refugees from Native American attacks. The city of Bradenton was formed in 1943 when the Florida legislature merged Manatee and Bradenton, which were (at the time) two distinct cities, and renamed the new city Bradenton.

During the summer months the city’s temperatures hit around 90 degrees during the day, with overnight lows often dropping to around 70 degrees. During the winter months, however, temperatures drop a bit, with highs topping out around 72 degrees during the day and lows often hitting around 50 degrees overnight.
