Boulder was founded in the early 1800′s while it was still a part of the Nebraska Territory. It remained unincorporated until 1871 and within two years a railroad had extended into the city, which in turn caused its population to boom. Mining at the time was a major source of income for the city, though today the city is known for its high tech businesses, though its main source of income is still the university.

During the summer months the city’s temperatures hit around 84 degrees during the day, with overnight lows dropping to around 50 degrees. During the winter, however, snow is common, with high temperatures topping out around 48 degrees during the day and overnight lows typically dropping to around 27 degrees.
