Bowling Green is a city in as well as the county seat of Warren County, Kentucky. Home to over 60,600 residents, Bowling Green is the third-largest city in the state of Kentucky after Louisville and Lexington and the city of Bowling Green even anchors its own small metropolitan area, the Bowling Green Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to over 162,000; it is also a part of the Bowling Green-Glasgow Combined Statistical Area, which is home to over 215,000.

Bowling Green was founded in 1798 by settlers moving into the newly-opened territories west of the Appalachian Mountains. Bowling Green began to grow as the United States railroad lines began creeping west; by the time of the American Civil War, Bowling Green was large enough to be named as a provincial capital of the Confederate States of America. During the summer months, Bowling Green can get fairly warm, with average daily highs between June and August hovering in the high 80’s and low 90’s. During the winter months snow is not unheard of but is not all that common, as average daily highs in the winter months tend to top out in the mid-to-upper 40’s, while overnight lows dropping into the upper 20’s and low 30’s.
