Auto Transport to Portland, Oregon

Friday, 26 February 2010 14:18 by TransportBlogger

I envy anyone moving to Portland this summer. This is one of my favorite cities and I’ve often longed to move here myself. However, it’s just not in the cards for me. Portland is a great city for anyone who loves reading, rainfall, grey skies, tax-free shopping, outdoor recreation, the arts, and fine beer or wine.

Shopping is awesome here. In fact, when I used to travel to Portland for business twice a year, I would always save up money for a shopping frenzy. Then I’d box up anything that wouldn’t fit in my suitcase and ship it back to Pittsburgh tucked in amongst our trade show shipment.

For wine tasting and scrumptious seafood dinners, I recommend Southpark downtown. This restaurant features an extensive wine list with the opportunity to try expensive vintages by sharing a glass with fellow diners; bringing the individual price to a reasonable level. You’ll try wines you never thought possible here.

Other sites to see include the Japanese Garden, OMSI, Powell’s Books, or even a picnic at Pittock Mansion. If you love the outdoors you’ll appreciate the bike friendly trails and urban paths. You can get around Portland easily by riding the people mover or taking a bus. The Saturday Market is an event that you won’t want to miss either with hundreds of artisans selling jewelry, pottery, candles, and more outdoors. You’ll experience live entertainment and music every weekend at the Saturday Market on the west side of Portland.

There are many ways to get auto transport to Portland, Oregon, but some will provide less stress than others. It may make sense to drive your own vehicle. You will want to add up the costs in terms of gas and time when evaluating a do-it-yourself approach. Depending on where you’re coming from, you may be required to travel a great distance. In these cases it is recommended that you look into shipping with an auto transport broker. You’ll save money and time in the long run and a reputable auto transport broker will have the experience to guide you through this process flawlessly.

American Auto Shipping provides free quotes from leading auto transport brokers. All auto transport companies have been carefully evaluated and screened to ensure reputation, experience, as well as proper insurance coverage and licensing. You will be happy that you talked with the experts while planning your auto transport move to Portland, Oregon or anywhere else in America. 3 Tips for Saving Money with Auto Transport

Friday, 26 February 2010 05:16 by TransportBlogger

Everyone knows it can be very expensive to relocate, but there are some ways to save time and money when planning a big move. Here are some tips to assist you in saving more money with auto transport throughout the United States.

1. Find a reputable auto transport broker.
Most people recommend starting out by locating an auto transport broker that can fit your needs and budget. Brokers have more advantages than carriers when scheduling auto transport and are often able to offer better pricing. Since they work with a large selection of dependable carriers, they are able to match routing, delivery timing, and location to the right company; maximizing their profit, efficiency, and your auto transport savings.

2. Do your homework.
The best auto transport brokers always do their homework and so should you. It is very important that you check any prospective company’s reputation and history with the Better Business Bureau. You will also want to check any feedback displayed on Transport Reviews. This consumer-based site is full of critical information on industry brokers and carriers. It even provides a 1 to 5 star ranking for each auto transport company; so you’ll know more about who you choose to work with. If you’re considering working directly with a carrier company, you will also need to review insurance certification and verify licensing details with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA). American Auto Shipping verifies all of these details and carefully pre-screens affiliate companies before representation. If you work with this experienced leader, you will know absolutely that this homework has been diligently done for you.

3. Plan early and prepare car well for transport.
It’s a no brainer that early planning will provide you with the greatest amount of savings. It will also reduce your stress load during the move. Another important tip is to be certain to prepare your car for the actual transport. Often overlooked, consumers highly recommend washing the vehicle prior to transport for the best inspection. Cautiously complete the initial inspection because this is what any unexpected damages will be compared with, if necessary. You will also need to remove any external accessories like antenna and ground effects as well as clean the interior thoroughly; removing personal items such as power converters, tools, MP3 players, or satellite radio receivers. Basically, anything you will miss if it disappears in transit. Finally, it is recommended that the gas tank sit about ¼ full for the lowest weight during shipping.

Some Interesting Auto Transport FAQ's

Wednesday, 24 February 2010 16:42 by TransportBlogger

What is an auto transport broker?

An auto transport broker is effectively an experienced middleman between a consumer and a carrier. Brokers often work with a large number of auto transport carriers and this leverage provides a great advantage over the ability of a single carrier to effectively schedule delivery times for shipping. Additionally, a broker takes on the role of advocate for a consumer in the unfortunate event of damages occurring during the transport. They carefully monitor and maintain your vehicle move and will fight alongside you to ensure any wrongs are quickly made right again.

What should I look for in a reputable broker?

You will want to do some preliminary research to determine a prospective company’s reputation. Many consumers rely on the Better Business Bureau for detailed information and feedback on nearly any company. Did you know that there is another source to find information specifically related to the auto transport industry? If you’re considering transport, take a look at the Transport Reviews site. They feature consumer feedback on various auto transport companies. Each company is ranked with a one to five star rating and individual customer comments will provide telling information.

How can I better prepare my car for transport?

It sounds simple, but it’s very helpful to give your car a good cleaning prior to the shipment. This will enable you and the driver, upon loading, to evaluate any existing nicks or damages to your car. Remember that this initial evaluation is very important, so you will not want to permit any shortcutting in this process. This report is what any future damages will be weighed against. Other preparations include thoroughly cleaning the car’s interior and removing any valuable personal items like MP3 players, satellite radio receivers, tools, power converters, and the like. Don’t leave anything in the car that you wouldn’t mind losing. Some consumers have also recommended reducing gas in the tank down to a ¼ tank prior to loading to reduce overall car weight.

Where can I find a reputable auto transport company?

Use the internet to search for auto transport companies and don’t forget to do your homework to verify experience, backgrounds, and insurance details. One highly recommended source is American Auto Shipping. Their site provides a quick and free quote service that provides only the highest ranking auto transport brokers. All affiliate companies have been meticulously reviewed to ensure high satisfaction for auto transport customers.

3 Tips for Choosing a New Home Town

Wednesday, 24 February 2010 16:21 by TransportBlogger

Today’s economy has got many of us struggling to make ends meet. In some cases, it may even make sense to consider moving to a new town or state for better income opportunities. Here are some considerations that may help if you’re pondering such a change in your life.

1. Check unemployment rates and relevant opportunities.
It is important that you look into the current unemployment rate of any prospective town you may be considering. To get started, simply do a quick Google search for this info. You will want to compare what you see with your current situation and ensure that you will find greater opportunities in the new location. It will also be important for you to look at relevant fields or industries to determine if the growth will truly benefit you.

2. Compare the overall cost of living.
Make sure to evaluate the cost of living in any target city. This will have a huge effect on your quality of life and ability to choose the housing and amenities you want. If you’ve lucked into a job offer, be sure to do this important research before accepting. You may need to push for a higher salary to maintain your current standards of living. It’s very different from one city or state to the next. A great example is living in California versus Kentucky. A salary paying $40,000 in Kentucky is fairly decent. However, in California, you’ll find it hard to stretch this salary to cover your costs.

3. Consider ways to save during the relocation.
Be sure to plan ahead of time and consider some options to save time and money. One often overlooked area is auto transport. It is possible to save more money, in some cases, by using an auto transport broker then it may cost to drive your car to a new destination. You’ll also save a load of stress and unnecessary mileage. For some expert assistance in finding reputable auto transport brokers online, visit American Auto Shipping to obtain up to 10 free quotes from pre-screened and reliable brokers. American carefully evaluates all represented companies to the highest standards in the auto transport industry. All auto transport brokers are evaluated according to experience and reputation by the Better Business Bureau and Transport Reviews, among other sources. You will have greater peace of mind when you work with these experienced leaders in auto transport.

Transporting Your Car to Las Vegas

Tuesday, 23 February 2010 17:50 by TransportBlogger

Ahh…the lights of Las Vegas; I can hear the slot machines now. In fact, it often takes days for me to get their jingling melodies out of my brain. This is the brightest city I’ve ever been to and a favorite of mine. I mean, who doesn’t like Vegas? I seriously recommend flying into this city at night for a breathtaking site, as the city lights beam through the airplane windows, illuminating the interior from afar. Vegas is home to a myriad of personalities, plush performing arts, decadent hotels, and designer shopping.

If you’re lucky enough to be relocating to this exciting destination, you’ll want to plan well in advance. Perhaps all that early planning will be just the thing you need to free up some time to play on the strip or at some of the more nostalgic casinos and attractions downtown. If you get a chance to visit the downtown area, be sure to visit Main Street Station for some real historic artifacts and amazing light shows that play across the overhead canopy.

Do you have a car you’ll need to transport to this fabulous City of Lights? If you do, then you will do well to consider shipping your car with a reputable auto transport broker. It just makes sense in today’s economic climate. The prices of gas continue to escalate and no one likes to put unnecessary mileage on their car if they don’t have to. Besides, depending on where you’re coming from, you could be looking at a few hundred miles to thousands.

Many consumers prefer working with auto transport brokers over carriers. Auto transport brokers tend to have bigger resources available for scheduling a move and their prices are often lower due to this advantage. American Auto Shipping is an experienced leader in the auto transport business. Visit their site for fast and free online quotes from reputable auto transport brokers. Simply complete the brief online questionnaire and you’ll receive a full listing of reliable auto transport brokers within seconds. You can be sure that any companies presented by American have already been pre-screened carefully to the highest industry standards.

Why worry about trying to transport your car to Las Vegas? Leave the auto transport to a reliable expert and spend your time packing and prepping for your move, or looking for a new homestead. You will be glad that you did.

4 Tips for a Stress-Free Move

Tuesday, 23 February 2010 17:20 by TransportBlogger

Everyone will agree that moving is one of the most dreaded events in our lives. It’s true that there are often great benefits to moving, but it’s still tough to uproot your family, its belongings, and settle into a new home. Here are some tips that I hope will make for a stress-free move the next time you’re faced with relocation that includes auto transport.

1. Plan early and plan ahead.
There is much to be said for providing enough time to get a move scheduled, prepped, and executed in a reasonable time frame. The worst possible situation is waiting to work these details out at the last minute. Planning provides you with plenty of time to get some much needed help from family and friends. You’ll reduce your stress level by working ahead on a move, guaranteed.

2. Familiarize yourself with the target destination.
Whenever possible, I recommend visiting your relocation target ahead of time. This will make you feel better about your new, future home. Additionally, you’ll have time to shop around for housing and check out many of the great tourist sites. Perhaps, you’ll even luck into a few new friends along the way. Having acquaintances in a new city will certainly make any transition smoother and they can provide much valuable advice regarding neighborhood reputations and typical costs of living.

3. Use an auto transport broker to ship vehicles.
Don’t drive your car for hundreds or even thousands of miles to relocate. Long driving trips can be grueling indeed. Trust me, I moved from Pennsylvania to California in a Uhaul and towed my personal car while pregnant. I don’t recommend this at all. You will be surprised to find out how reasonable the auto transport pricing may be – especially when you calculate the expensive cost of gas as you accrue, along with the mileage on your vehicle. There are many great auto transport brokers available to help you plan this service. Visit American Auto Shipping for free quotes from up to 10 respected auto transport brokers.

4. Always check backgrounds of selected companies.
It is very important to check the reputations and backgrounds of any companies you decide to work with for your relocation. This includes consumer goods movers as well as auto transport brokers. Do you homework first and you’ll sleep better at night. There is no replacement for the peace of mind provided after a thorough evaluation of any prospective auto transport company.

4 Steps for Smooth Auto Transport

Monday, 22 February 2010 05:33 by TransportBlogger

Moving is hard enough without adding a long distance relocation into the mix. You’ve got to worry about your furniture, decorative items, and other personal effects, as well as any vehicles you wish to transport to your new locale. Why stress out over your auto transport? Here are some easy steps to finding the best auto transport company to fit your needs.

1. Choose a broker over a carrier.

So many people have been taken for a ride by unethical carriers. The worst case scenarios may involve surprise up-charges after the initial bid and long delivery schedules. Some individuals have unfortunately had to wait extra weeks or even months to receive their cars. This is because many carriers try to optimize their routing for the most profit. Your schedule is not always their priority. Working with a broker ensures that you will find a more reputable auto transport solution. Many brokers are very experienced in dealing with the challenges carriers bring to the table and they effectively become an advocate for your peace of mind. In addition, brokers have the ability to search for a wider range of auto transport options and schedules to offer the most competitive rates and delivery time frames.

2. Do some research before deciding on an auto transport company.

Take the time to check up on the basics of any company’s reputation you may be considering. There are great online resources for this type of research including the Better Business Bureau and Transport Reviews. In fact, Transport Reviews is a renowned database of 42,525 consumer reviews. To find out what customers are saying it’s worth a quick look before you book.

3. Save time gathering quotes.

For the fastest quotes online, visit American Auto Shipping. Here you’ll receive free quotes instantly from only reputable and experienced auto transport brokers. All American brokers are pre-screened and ensured to have high rankings and feedback with both the Better Business Bureau and Transport Reviews. These high standards are in place to protect consumer satisfaction.

4. Plan and prepare well.

Be sure to provide yourself with enough time to do the research and schedule your auto transport move. The more time you allow, the better you will feel throughout the process. In addition, you may also wish to make additional considerations regarding weather or traffic conditions, route planning, or specialized options such as closed carriers and GPS tracking.
